🎤 Sealed-Box Driver Selection
ℹ️ About: Ranks bass drivers for a sealed enclosure from
first-principles excursion, Doppler and thermal-power limits at your room and target
SPL, assuming half-space (soffit-wall) radiation and a single fixed listening
position. A sub (mono manifold) covers the band up to the split
frequency; an attack driver (stereo tower, L+R) covers up to the top
frequency — the two are ranked independently, then you pick one of each.
Target SPL is a per-driver level, separately configurable for each
role (default 115 dB sub / 105 dB attack, matching THX reference-level peak
calibration: LFE channel 10 dB hotter than the mains): the sub's manifold units and
the attack driver's two stereo channels are both correlated/common-signal, so they add
coherently at the couch (+20 log10 N, N = units × channels) —
e.g. one attack channel at 105 dB plus its stereo twin gives 111 dB at the couch for
mono-panned content. Thermal/power headroom, unlike the acoustic sum, never crosses
channels: each physical driver still only ever dissipates its own channel's power.
